Week 9: Seesaws & AC Sparta

Monday, October 23rd

I had classes as usual and then went for a run up (and back down) Petrin Hill. The leaves have finally started falling and I'm excited it feels like fall.

That night, Sadie, Aislinn, and I got ice cream for dinner and then I had dinner for dessert back at the dorms.

Tuesday, October 24th

I didn't have classes as usual and spent my day in the library working on homework and my blog. It rained almost all day, so I didn't feel like I needed to be outside exploring.

Wednesday, October 25th

I had classes as usual (I'm running out of things to say) and then I don't really remember what I did (I'm writing this two weeks later).

Thursday, October 26th

Our art history field trip was to Museum Kampa, a modern art museum on Kampa Island. We spent our time in the wing dedicated to Frantisek Kupka. After class, I visited the remaining wings and the temporary fashion exhibit.

That afternoon, I had an ECES-organized hike to the Novy Hradek ruins in Kunratice Forest. There was a playground off the trail and Aislinn and I spent some time on the seesaw, which is probably my highlight of the semester. I left the hike early to make it to the AC Sparta soccer game I had tickets for that night.

AC Sparta is a part of the Europa League, which is the second-tier competition of European club football. Even though it's "second-tier," it's still a huge deal and the game was sold out.

Upon arrival to the game, I realized I had made a huge, tragic -- borderline catastrophic -- oopsie. I purchased the cheapest ticket on StubHub because everybody knows if it's cheap it's going to be in a faraway seat in a bad section, but everybody would be wrong about this ticket because I was in the second row of the fan section. I arrived 45-minutes before the game and knew I wouldn't be able to survive in the fan section alone, so I weaseled my way to another section, waited until the game was about to start, and found the only free seat in the entire stadium.

After narrowly escaping my literal worst nightmare, I had a great time. I was surrounding by middle-aged Czech men and we were all into it. The game ended 0-0, but Sparta dominated. I started to feel bad for the other team because everyone was booing them when they got the ball, so I secretly started to root for them and I think they felt it because they started playing better during the second half.

Go team!

After the game, I went to a bar with Sadie, Aislinn, and Aislinn's siblings (who were visiting for a few days) so they could try Pilsner.

Almost a full moon (spooky)
